Salary : $45,115.20 - $51,882.48 Annually Location : Winston-Salem, NC Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 08223 Department: Public Health Opening Date: 06/05/2025 Closing Date: 6/15/2025 11:59 PM Eastern General Statement of Duties Forsyth County Department of Public Health has an opening for a Bilingual Public Health Educator. The Public Health Educator is a dynamic and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on maternal and child health, as well as overall community wellness. This position is responsible for assessing community needs and delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate health education as part of the Infant Mortality Reduction Program (IMRP) and Maternal Child Health (MCH) team. Key responsibilities include promoting safe sleep practices, childbirth education, family planning, SIDS prevention, and parenting support. The educator also leads broader wellness initiatives, including chronic disease prevention and other health promotion efforts based on emerging community needs. Considerable knowledge of community assessment, program planning and evaluation procedures. General knowledge of journalistic principles and methods of preparing subject matter in the promotion of the public health activities. Working knowledge of display techniques and skill in the arrangement of exhibits. Ability to develop health education activities; to stimulate interest and cooperation among various groups in carrying out health education activities. Ability to write and speak effectively. Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels and to maintain effective working relationships with local health departments, community agencies and the public. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education. A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience. Valid driver's license required. Bilingual in Spanish required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Implements activities within established guidelines based on interpretation of needs assessment; Selects educational materials & methods and implements a planned health education program; Teaches health education classes for clients in community groups; Designs health education programs of limited complexity and targeted to specific groups; Assists in the collection of community data, generally from existing resources, for planning public health education programs.
