Northwestern College seeks a highly motivated full-time director of discipleship to begin as early as July 1. Successful candidates will show evidence of a vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ, a knowledge and comfort in campus ministry initiatives, and a commitment to see our Christian academic community flourish in living and learning together. The director of discipleship will lead men and women into a Christ-centered, biblically grounded, theologically integrated, culturally competent and mission-oriented Christian leadership.
This person will need to have excellent relational, communicative and administrative skills. Alongside gifts of teaching and vision casting, this person will intentionally recruit, train, equip and commission student leaders as effective and inspired disciples of Jesus who raise up other disciples who do the same. To reach the entirety of our campus and beyond, this person will co-labor in collaborative partnership with staff, faculty, coaches and community members. Mobilizing both individuals and teams into effective discipleship ministry will happen through small group ministries, biblical teaching, prayer gatherings, spiritual discipline training, retreats, justice and service initiatives, reconciliation efforts, local church and ministry partnerships, and mentoring opportunities.
The director of discipleship is a part of the Northwestern campus ministry division and reports to the vice president for Christian formation. A Master of Divinity degree or an appropriate degree in student development, theology or spiritual formation is preferred, ideally along with 5-10 years of related ministry leadership experience.
Northwestern College seeks candidates with an authentic Christian faith who will embrace and live out our mission & values, including our Reformed, evangelical and ecumenical identity as stated in our Christian Identity Statement, Mission Statement, Vision for Learning and Vision for Diversity. We view these statements as complementary and draw from each in fulfilling our mission.
