Job Description

The responsibilities of a Sr DevOps Software Developer include creating and implementing processes, tools, and methodologies to balance needs throughout the software development life cycle, from coding and deployment, to maintenance and updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing and developing tools that improve development and testing efficiency
Identify and research new tools and processes that improve developer efficiency. Drive the implementation of these tools and processes
Takes project leadership over small to medium DevOps initiatives
Recommend modifications to processes and procedures, best practice contributions, and architecture
Collaborate with team of developers and production support on software projects, creating resolutions on issues and developing solutions
Automate the quality assurance and integration testing for projects after development is completed and before projects are deployed
Troubleshoot production issues across multiple services
Manage and track communications with project managers, quality assurance, IT, and App Support
Adhere to the organizational processes and the tracking of project metrics, including financials and projects statuses
Consult with other teams and help guide them through onboarding to containers
Review Helm Charts and Docker files from other teams as needed
Represent Paycom in conversations and other interactions with various outside vendors.
Maintain and improve services that are part of our SDLC
Tier 2/3 On-Call rotation supporting SDLC services (Primarily GitLab)
Some work outside of Business hours will be required
Regular attendance as required

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree

Experience:

3+ year experience with DevOps methodologies and technologies
Experience working on projects that involve coordination with App Support, QA, and IT.
Experience with building applications
Experience Debugging Build and Deployment issues
Experience with writing documentation for other developers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Info Sys, or related fields

Skills/Abilities:

Analyzing, executing, and streamlining DevOps practices
Automating processes with the right tools
Facilitating development process and operations
Establishing a suitable DevOps channel across the organization
Setting up a continuous build environment to speed up software development and deployment process
Architecting overall, comprehensive, and efficient practices
Guiding developers and operation teams in case of an issue
Monitoring, reviewing, and managing technical operations
Ability to manage teams with a leadership mindset
Ability to write clear and concise documentation related to Development DevOps practices and processes
