Description
Summary: The position is responsible for instructing CPR and AED certification classes for employees of the Two Rivers YMCA and the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain trainer certifications necessary to teach the latest American Heart Association's CPR trainings for YMCA employees and the general public.
- Work directly with the Wellness Coordinator to schedule an appropriate number of certification classes necessary to ensure all YMCA employees have access to certification within the first month of employment.
- Obtain class roster from the front desk prior to class and make sure all participants are registered and have paid appropriate fees for class.
- Provide a completed class roster to Wellness Coordinator following certification detailing who attended and whether or not they passed or failed certification.
- Perform preventive maintenance on CPR and AED supplies and equipment regularly. Communicate supply/equipment needs with Wellness Coordinator on a on-going basis.
- Know and understand the YMCAs Emergency Procedures. Integrate CPR certification procedures with YMCA Emergency Procedures as allowable.
- Offer CPR classes for the public as necessary.
Effect and End Result: - All Two Rivers YMCA employees will complete CPR and AED certifications within their first month of employment.
- All CPR and AED equipment will be in good, working condition.
- Two Rivers YMCA employees will have the skills necessary for acting quickly and effectively when a health emergency occurs in our facility or programs.
- Members and the community will view the Two Rivers YMCA as a safe place that upholds the highest in health and safety standards.
Requirements
Job Requirements: Comfortable speaking in front of groups. Must be able to apply logical thinking and instruction to materials to be taught. Provide a positive learning environment.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, reach, stoop, kneel and bend. Ability to speak distinctly and hear for handling members/community by telephone and in person. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 including wet towels, tables, chairs, and snow.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: At least five years leading/instructing health and wellness related programs. At least two years of undergraduate studies in a health wellness related field is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret general documents, and follow written directions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members, community and staff. Ability to provide customer service.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, and percentages. Ability to count money and balance daily receipts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certifications, Must maintain necessary certifications for instructing the American Heart Assocation's CPR certification for infants and adults.
Other skills and Abilities: Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment. Specific knowledge of Microsoft Word. Strong human relations skills.
