About The Role

As the Camp, Youth & Teen Director, you’ll be at the heart of building transformational experiences for young people, both at camp and throughout the year. You will lead the iconic Children’s Island Day Camp, a unique and adventure-filled summer program that allows campers to explore the outdoors, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong friendships. In addition, you’ll oversee year-round youth and teen programs, ensuring ongoing engagement through initiatives like Teen Leaders, Friday Night Fun, and adaptive/inclusive programming. Your leadership will create a welcoming and supportive environment where every child and teen can learn, grow, and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Camp Leadership & Program Development

Direct and oversee Children’s Island Day Camp, ensuring a high-quality and unforgettable summer experience.

Design and implement engaging teen and youth programs that extend beyond summer, fostering a deeper connection to the Y year-round.

Build and grow leadership opportunities for youth and teens, including Teen Leaders, counselor-in-training (CIT) programs, and volunteer experiences.

Year-Round Youth & Teen Engagement

Expand Friday Night Fun, teen nights, and enrichment opportunities to keep youth engaged and connected throughout the year.

Develop and lead adaptive and inclusion-based programming, ensuring accessibility and meaningful participation for all.

Strengthen teen outreach, offering mentorship, leadership development, and community-building initiatives.

Staff Development & Training

Recruit, hire, and develop a passionate and skilled team of camp staff, youth leaders, and volunteers.

Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and innovation, providing coaching and professional development.

Safety & Licensing Compliance

Ensure all camp and youth programs meet licensing regulations, safety standards, and YMCA policies.

Develop clear safety protocols, emergency procedures, and risk management strategies.

Community Engagement & Program Growth

Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners to expand impact and engagement.

Oversee program budgets, enrollment strategies, and marketing efforts to increase participation and sustainability.

Act as a visible leader and advocate for youth development, camp programs, and inclusion initiatives.

Why Join Us?

At the YMCA, we believe in the power of camp, the importance of year-round engagement, and the value of positive mentorship for youth and teens. As the Camp, Youth & Teen Director, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape experiences that inspire confidence, leadership, and lifelong connections for young people. Whether on the shores of Children’s Island or in a Friday night teen program, your work will make a lasting impact.
